White House to Disabled Kids: We can’t keep you out, but just you try to get there.

My mother is a lifelong Democrat.  The first presidential candidate she remembers supporting was John F. Kennedy. She was six.  She remembers waking up in the middle of the night as a teenager to hear that Bobby had been shot.
So what with prominent members of the Kennedy family, including brother Teddy, supporting Barack Obama, one might think that she would be inspired by the reflected glow of the Kennedy aura, to support the Senator from Illinois.
A huge part of who my mother is, as a person, is the result of spending the past thirty seven years as the mother of a severly disabled child.  My brother reached school age during the Carter administration
“Educators nationwide are protesting a Bush administration move to curtail hundreds of millions of dollars in Medicaid funding for disabled students that could force some schools already in budget straits to trim health services or cut back instructional programs.”
in other news,  underfunded districts are cutting special-ed services to homeschooling kids
